Morten and i just watched Michael Jackson’s memorial service in Los Angeles Staples Center. It was so moving.. I could not help tears coming down my cheek when Brooke Shields spoke from her heart and his daughter Paris cried at the end saying:” since the day i was born daddy was the best father you can ever imagine. I want to say I love you… “.. Oh it was such a sad scene.. She hugs her aunt (most probaly La Toya) and cries and MJ’s brothers and her brothers all together hug her. It was so emotional. We watch these moments on TV and it is something we are not part of. However for that little girl it is her daddy. She’ll never ever be able to utter the word Daddy and hear an answer from him. Losing one’s parents is so hurtful and the way she said the word “daddy” was really heart-breaking. I can imagine her calling MJ with the same intonation when he was alive.. Daddy…Now all the news channels will keep showing that unique moment and abuse it. no surprise it will happen. media abuses all special moments, doesn’t it?

His brother said in the end that it hurt MJ to be ridiculed all the time, a baptist said he changed the world by pursuing his dreams despite being a black in those days. Brooke Shields said how he laughed to laugh and enjoy funny jokes. it was also my impression after watching an old oprah winfrey in 1992 or something, how much he was laughing and how cute his laugh, giggles was.
The media has been very tough on him and that is so sad that maybe he would not imagine millions of people would be so moved by his death. Usher (very good, he touched the casc.), jennifer hudson (she was good), mariah carey (we missed her part), stevie wonder (cool as usual), even shaheen from uk’s got talent (he sang who’s loving you while MJ was still alive so he deserved the honor to sing there) were there, it was a great tribute to MJ. But i did ´not like some people’s talking on behalf of him. lke that berny gordy guy from motown, he had a happy life. who are you to say that? you made fame and money over that kid! that’s what it is. it was so real.. you see that he was a caring man, a good person who worked for kids, helped charities.. when you see the family crying, it felt so sad and real..

i did not like the fact that his dad got so much appraisal from the speakers. an abuser gets bravo?!
it was a huge gathering in staple center.. 70.000 people watched it just there inside. it is history they watched. wish i was there.. i read that 8750 people got Kura ile cekilen tickets but they sold tickets on ebay on black market. one of the last tickets was sold for 100,000usd.
life is sad. he was going to give 50 concerts in london.. now he is being buried in los angeles..
he has been on tv and all media since his death.his songs have been downloaded millions of time on the internet.. young kids are discovering his music. he has been the cover of time’s new edition. and people rae talking of him.. mtv is playing his old videos over and over.. he has reminded the world how big he was. i am really bummed óout that the world teased him, called him wacko jacko, made tough and unfair documentaries, called him even racist, made pedophile jokes about him and now the world discovers him.
i remember clearly that video black and white.. iwas amazed when the faces changed.. it was a revolution. when i saw that video with macaulay culkin i was feeling the ‘fun’ in my veins.
it is just sad.. I am so moved by his death since I saw the news on the newspaper. First I thought it was a stupid joke of the Turkish newspaper (to draw more clicks for an online photo gallery) but then I checked it again on cnn and it ws true.. How shocked I was..
some numbers from his career:
- thriller:100million (top selling album of all times)
- in total 750 million albums were sold
- 13# number 1 hits
- 13 grammy awards
bcc world has been broadcasting the memorial but i find their after comments dull and cold.
cnn’s larry king was sitting close to the family and he told live after the service that he was moved too.. anderson cooper was there outside. then hala gorani (although i find her yapmacik!)
i liked the american way, sayin ggoodbye with music and jokes and emotions… islamist way would be way too depressing, without any music and humor.. darker than the death.
